Barcelona beaches and places to swim in Barcelona.

When describing Barcelona, it would be unfair to ignore its beaches, drawing attention to its charming architecture, rich urban culture and shopping opportunities. Barcelona, one of the few metropolises in the city center, is surrounded by nine beaches with a total length of 4.5 kilometers on both sides of the Olympic Port. Bringing to the city in preparation for the 1992 Olympics and winning the blue flag over time, Barcelona’s beaches are able to bring together people of all ages with their unique atmosphere.

The dangerous situation of the sea on the beaches of Barcelona, which is constantly monitored by rescue teams, is conveyed to visitors with 3 different colored flags. You can safely swim in these green signs; yellow attentive face; red means not to swim. Sea water begins to warm in early June and reaches a temperature that can reach by October. Jellyfish can be seen only near the coast when the water temperature reaches a maximum, ie in late July and August. However, Red Cross workers work on the beaches during the day to alleviate the concerns of jellyfish. Also, all the beaches I have listed below offer free wireless internet connection. Without further ado, let’s move on to the list of beaches in Barcelona …

Sant Sebastia

One kilometer long, Sant Sebastia is the oldest and most famous beach in the city. Located within the borders of the Barcelona region, the beach attracts families and elderly travelers throughout the season. This way, if you need a beach with a crowded and lively atmosphere, you can rent an umbrella and sunbeds. In addition to swimming and sunbathing in Sant Sebastia, if you have the courage, you can play volleyball on the beach or engage in extreme water sports. If you are hungry, you can choose any of the restaurants near the beach.

Barceloneta

Extensive facilities and the beach closest to the center make Barceloneta a favorite. In addition to swimming and sunbathing on the beach, which is close to many restaurants and tapas bars, in your spare time you can focus on various water sports or go to areas where you can play table tennis and volleyball. If you can’t find time to go to restaurants and bars, you can also fill your stomach with seafood menus called “Chiringuitos” in the local language. The beach, which attracts people of all ages, is a 20-minute walk from La Rambla.

Nova Icaria

With a 400-meter sandy beach and a quiet environment, Nova Icaria is one of the ideal options for single travelers and families who want to relax among the beaches of Barcelona. When I talk about its tranquility, some of you may think that the opportunities offered by this beach may be limited. However, the fact that the beach is adjacent to the Olympic Park has increased the number of activities that can be done at sea and on the beach. In addition, the opportunities for eating, drinking and entertainment around are as great as its famous neighbors Barceloneta and Sant Sebastia.

Bogatell

Bogatell Beach, which provides a safe environment for its guests thanks to the shelter structure, is chosen by middle and upper age groups. The most important feature of the beach is that it was built by human hands as part of a regional rehabilitation project. This situation, unlike others, filled the area with greenery and gardens. A peaceful and hygienic 400-meter beach awaits you on the beach.

Mar Bella

I made the last line of my list of famous Barcelona beaches for the colorful and fun Mar Bella. The marginal beach is mostly visited by young people and homosexuals. In fact, the beach, which is almost twice the size of Nova Icaria, became the only place in the city where nudity is free, with a law passed in 2011. Despite its popularity, Mar Bella, which has a quieter environment than La Barcelona or Sant Sebastia, also gives its guests the opportunity to spend time with various activities such as windsurfing and water skiing. There are many restaurants and bars around the beach that have been brought to the city as a result of the reconstruction, as well as Bogatell with their rich menus.
